"Our greatness comes not only from what we’ve done, but what we’re still determined to discover."

Join the Parade!

Liberty on Parade is a special America250 presentation within Hailey's Fourth of July Days of the Old West Parade, bringing together communities across the Wood River Valley to tell the story of America and Blaine County through a living historical timeline. From pioneers and mining camps to sheep ranchers, the birth of Sun Valley, and modern-day community life, each float and walking group highlights the people, events, and traditions that helped shape our valley and our nation.

SHARE YOUR AMERICAN STORY

In celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary, the Blaine County Historical Museum invites community members to take part in the national initiative, “Share Your American Story.”

History is more than presidents, wars, and famous moments — it is also the story of everyday Americans. Your personal experiences, family traditions, and community roots are an important part of the American story.

This initiative aims to create a collection of personal narratives for the America 250 celebration.

We invite you to schedule a time to record your story at the Blaine County Historical Museum and help create a living mosaic of what it means to be American today.

Your story matters. Share it for future generations.

  • AMERICA 300 TIME CAPSULE CHALLENGE

What would you tell your future self? As part of America's 250th Anniversary celebration, the Blaine County Historical Museum invites children and students throughout Blaine County to participate in the America 300 Time Capsule Challenge. Through a simple online questionnaire, participants will create a digital time capsule message to be preserved until 2076, when America celebrates its 300th Birthday, known as the Tricentennial.  The completed digital submissions will become part of a community archive documenting what it was like to grow up during America's 250th Anniversary year. Most exciting of all, today's participants will likely be adults when America's Tricentennial arrives in 2076. A child who participates today may one day look back and rediscover the thoughts, dreams, and experiences they recorded fifty years earlier.
